The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials is currently hiring an Associate Program Manager, Transportation Product Evaluations, a full-time position located in our Washington, DC office.

Nature of Position:

Reporting to the Program Director for AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions, the Associate Program Manager supports the administration and management of tasks associated with the AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions audit programs.  Representing a critical sector of AASHTO’s engineering division, the Product Evaluation and Audit Solutions team works to combine the professional and physical resources of the AASHTO member departments in order to evaluate materials, products, and devices of common interest for use in highway and bridge construction.

The Associate Program Manager is responsible for supporting the Product Evaluation and Audit Solutions team in the effective operation of services to the programs, products and committees within the team’s charge. Primary areas of responsibility include:

  • Support the implementation of new programs and administer current audit programs
  • Provide customer service to current and prospective industry customers of the audit programs
  • Communicate with manufacturers interested in participating in AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions
  • Review and process applications for audits
  • Maintain data and documents in audit modules in online data repository
  • Assist with oversight of third-party laboratory contracts associated with audit programs
  • Monitor any changes in specification or work plan requirements and revise current program documentation as needed
  • Provide support to technical committees as an AASHTO Liaison
  • Provide programmatic and administrative assistance to contract auditors
  • Assist with planning and participating in the annual AASHTO Product Evaluation & Audit Solutions annual meeting
  • Work with the Program Manager for audit programs on tasks associated with overall program improvements and outreach

Position Requirements:

The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of progressively responsible, professional experience. A Bachelor of Science degree is required, preferably in engineering or a technical field. A Master’s degree in the areas of transportation planning, engineering, policy, or the equivalent may substitute for professional experience.

Prior experience working with construction materials, manufactured products industries, or overseeing audit programs is desirable, but not required. Specifically, it is highly desirable for the incumbent to have basic audit experience in a transportation manufacturing environment, specifically experience related to quality control and assurance.

Meticulous demonstrated project management support, administrative skills, and organizational skills are essential for this position. A strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing; and to work professionally and cooperatively with industry participants, committee members, other staff, and contractors is required. Strong demonstrable experience utilizing Microsoft Office is required; and an aptitude for technology, including the ability to learn new computer applications is desired.

The incumbent must be able to travel up to 20 days per year.

Perks and Benefits:

This position primarily reports out of our Washington, DC office located in Metro Center. AASHTO offers employees hybrid work schedules, with remote work up to 2-3 days/week.

The salary range for this position is $65,000 – 80,000.
