In this position you will perform structural engineering analysis and calculations to determine the safe load carrying capacity of bridges, evaluate overloaded (permit) vehicles and to identify weight restriction requirements (load posting values). You will also complete bridge safety inspections, including routine, nonredundant steel tension member (NSTM), low water, and in-depth inspections. Some bridge management and bridge design and retrofit tasks may be involved as well.

Formal and in-house training are provided with a focus on advancing an Engineer 1 to the Technical Engineer 1 position. If you are interested in acquiring your Remote Pilot/Part 107 certification, DOT&PF has allocated funds to pay for this program.
