Under the general direction of the Supervising Transportation Planner (Office Chief), of the Office of Transit Grants and Contracts, Division of Local Assistance (DLA), the Senior Transportation Planner is responsible for administering federal grants for various Federal Transit Administration programs.
The Senior Transportation Planner is responsible for all aspects of the Federal grant awards, balances, reconciliations, and reporting. The Position requires a seasoned understanding of the Federal programs administered by the Division, and an ever-ready access to, and development of, program grant balances. Continuous interaction with the Federal Transit Administration and other internal and external mass transportation stakeholders is necessary.
Duties include providing technical assistance about grants administration to program managers and staff within DLA, monitoring grant activities and balances, maintaining accurate financial information in various data systems, preparing management reports, and ensuring compliance with FTA grant requirements, and supervising staff.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Planner Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g. transfer, permissive reinstatement or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
