The Bike and Pedestrian Coordinator Specialist manages the special projects and assignments related to bicycle and pedestrian related research and studies. This position also assists the ATRC Manager with tasks related to the ATRC and all of its associated non-technical contracts. The incumbent also works with the ATRC Manager to plan and implement the direction of the ATRC by working with potential ATP applicants, ATP fund recipients, and the ATP Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to identify resource needs such as training and materials. The incumbent will also act as Project/Program Manager for 1/2 of the ATP NI and Planning projects, in coordination with the ATRC Program Manager. Under the general direction of the Chief of Office of Active Transportation and Special Programs, a Supervising Transportation Engineer, the Project/Program Manager works with California Department of Public Health (CDPH), cities, counties, transportation planning agencies, districts, other headquarters units, the California Transportation Commission (CTC), the Federal Highway Administration (FI-IWA), tribal governments, other local, state, and federal agencies, and the public. The Project/Program Manager acts as a planning expert to perform the most difficult and complex work which is critical to the Department’ s mission and of statewide significance.
The incumbent may act on behalf of other professional staff during their absence from the Office and may act on behalf of other professional staff in the office. The Project/Program Manager develops methods appropriate and necessary to independently complete their specific tasks.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Planner Exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g. transfer, permissive reinstatement or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
