About the Work Unit
The Fleet Services unit is responsible for the oversight of CDOT’s equipment and vehicle assets. This includes both the heavy and light fleets along with the Equipment Management System, fuel management, procurement of CDOT road equipment, road equipment budget, preparation of new equipment, road equipment inventory, Headquarters Motor Pool operations, joint management of CDOT’s light fleet with State Fleet Management, and management / administration of CDOT’s Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems.
About the Position
This Administrator III position is a new position and will be assigned to the Heavy Fleet group within Fleet Services reporting to the Heavy Fleet Coordinator. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of heavy fleet management and maintenance on special and/or major projects with DMO’s Fleet Services program with an emphasis on winter equipment such as snowplows. This position will determine the fleet strategy and then direct and coordinate all activities related to the development and ongoing management of the snowplow fleet, including additional winter operations equipment that have Statewide impact and are highly complex and sensitive. This position will work in conjunction with the DMO Heavy Fleet Coordinator. This includes providing consultation as well as managing the fleet readiness, maintenance trends, and repair processes. This position assists DMO with ensuring that special/major fleet projects are developed, implemented, and managed in such a way as to maximize fleet readiness, unit success, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Direct and coordinate activities related to the operational readiness of CDOT winter operations equipment inventory with a focus on snowplows but could include other heavy fleet assets.
Develop fleet and equipment readiness strategies that are cost-effective and lead to increased readiness levels.
Manage the winter operations equipment inventory in SAP to assess, prioritize, and manage fleet repairs and replacements, research and resolve data/maintenance inconsistencies for all winter equipment.
Coordinate with field personnel, shop supervisors, and others to ensure Statewide consistency.
Work to determine the strategy to make recommendations for courses of action and then direct and coordinate all activities related to the management of the winter fleet.
Consult on appropriate products for fleet vehicle maintenance and repair and involves research, testing, and evaluation of items such as diagnostic tools, software, and equipment.
Continually make assessments of CDOT’s winter equipment maintenance programs and the status of fleet readiness.
Review and analyze fleet management data to determine the operational readiness status of winter equipment with a focus upon snowplow assets.
Other job duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Monday thru Friday 7:30AM to 4:00PM
Travel required throughout the state with some overnight
Required to operate CDOT vehicles.

Experience Only:
Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position. Experience includes: Fleet Management, Fleet Maintenance, Fleet Operations.
OR
Education and Experience:A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Project Management, or another field of study closely related to the duties of this position.Advanced Automotive Service certifications qualify as a education substitution
