Are you looking for an opportunity to make an impact on Wisconsin’s infrastructure? Join the Bureau of Structures as a Structure Maintenance Specialist to aid in the inspection and maintenance of bridges and transportation related structures!

The WI Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is seeking interested and qualified individuals to fill two Structure Maintenance Specialist (Transportation Specialist Advanced) positions in the Bureau of Structures!

These full-time positions are headquartered in the North Central Region (Rhinelander) and Northwest Region (Superior or Spooner) of Wisconsin.

Structure Maintenance Specialist – Rhinelander Location

This position is a Transportation Specialist Advanced in the inspection and maintenance of bridges and transportation related structures for the Bureau of Structures – Inspection and Maintenance Unit A located in the North Central Region – Rhinelander office. This position individually or as a member of a team performs complex duties assisting the region inspection and maintenance engineers in implementing the planned bridge inspection and maintenance program. Duties include but are not limited to conducting structure inspections; preparing structure inspection reports; recommending and coordinating maintenance actions and repair needs; and directing and monitoring county and contractor forces in the repairs and/or maintenance of structures.

Structure Maintenance Specialist – Superior or Spooner Location

This position is a Transportation Specialist Advanced in the inspection and maintenance of bridges and transportation related structures for the Bureau of Structures – Inspection and Maintenance Unit A located in the Northwest Region – Superior or Spooner office. This position individually or as a member of a team performs complex duties assisting the region inspection and maintenance engineers in implementing the planned bridge inspection and maintenance program. Duties include but are not limited to conducting structure inspections; preparing structure inspection reports; recommending and coordinating maintenance actions and repair needs; and directing and monitoring county and contractor forces in the repairs and/or maintenance of structures. This position also assists in inspecting/maintaining a state-owned bascule (lift or moveable) bridge, which is a highly complex bridge.
