MAG is seeking an experienced transportation professional to support its efforts in the Transportation Policy and Planning Division. The position will assist in the oversight and management of the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Duties include: working with member agencies to ensure timely project obligation, providing technical assistance to member agencies and MAG staff, assisting in the development of policies and procedures; assisting in the development of financial forecasts for federal transportation funds; oversight of the transportation project database; assisting in the prioritization and project selection process for federal funding; ensuring compliance with federal requirements; assisting with the MAG Street Committee, coordinating with the Arizona Department of Transportation and other key stakeholders. This position also will provide technical support for the development of other certification documents, such as the Regional Transportation Plan, Annual Report on the Status of the Implementation of Proposition 400, and Air Quality Conformity; and other activities as needed.
The ideal candidate will have: a technical knowledge of federal and regional transportation systems, transportation finance and the range of federal and regional transportation funding; the ability to provide public meeting presentations, be comfortable holding coordination or working group sessions; and be proficient working with MS Windows, and MS Office Suite. The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical abilities and critical thinking, be highly motivated and comfortable both working independently and within a dynamic team; have excellent written communication and organization skills, with a keen eye to detail; be able to convey complex, technical information in a clear and concise manner; and demonstrate a strong work ethic. Experience with financial analysis, tracking, and quality control management for regional transportation projects is required.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences, including the MAG policy and technical committees.
- Proficiency working with spreadsheets and databases
- Education and Experience Requirements:
The preferred candidate will have at least three (3) years of transportation planning, transportation project management, local capital improvement program (CIP) management, or engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or one (1) year of experience with a Master’s degree in Planning, Public Administration, Engineering, or equivalent is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
