The Water Resources Engineering Supervisor is a team leader in the Plan Review Division (PRD). The Plan Review Division is responsible for ensuring that all MDOT SHA projects are compliant with Maryland’s stormwater management and erosion and sediment control regulations. As a licensed professional engineer, this team leader supervises specialized hydrologic/hydraulic engineers providing engineering review and regulatory permitting activities for stormwater management (SWM) and erosion and sediment control (ESC). This position works independently, reporting directly to the Assistant Division Chief. The Water Resources Engineering Supervisor will provide technical expertise to other licensed and non-licensed professional engineers as needed to support compliance with SWM and ESC permitting for MDOT SHA projects. These duties include independent review of complex projects for ESC, SWM, and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) MD-378 Small Pond 378 (Code 378), programmatic planning and managing reviews for multiple complex projects, supervising environmental permit coordination, development and implementation of programmatic activities for the division and office, and implementation of processes to meet MDOT SHA goals. Additionally, the Water Resources Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for interpreting, administering, and improving the MDOT SHA policies and procedures related to SWM and ESC and other environmental requirements, technical review.


Possession of a Maryland Professional Engineer license, in the appropriate option, is required. Evidence of license must be presented at the time of appointment.

Experience: One (1) year of experience managing engineering projects as a licensed, professional engineer.

Selective Qualification: Two (2) years of experience in water resources and/or environmental engineer design, project management, or plan review.
