$64,984.00 – $104,954.00 Annually
Nature of Work: This Data Services Division is responsible for maintaining a current road inventory of various physical and administrative attributes for over 32,000 miles of public roadways and highways in Maryland. This position will manage and maintain SHA’s Geographic Information System (GIS) centerline network, and compile, validate, and prepare data for the annual submission of the Certified Public Mileage Report and Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS). This position will be a source for data on the location, extent, condition, performance, use and operating characteristics of Maryland’s highways which is used throughout the administration to support various disciplines of design including highway, pavement, environmental, signalization, maintenance, and planning. The GIS Centerline & Road Inventory Manager will also act as a liaison between SHA and local transportation agencies to determine jurisdictional responsibility of roadways.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in professional engineering.
Selective Qualification: One (1) year of experience performing data editing and cartographic production using Esri’s ArcGIS.
*A Selective Qualification is more focused in scope than the minimum qualifications for this classification. Selective Qualifications are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (i.e., knowledge, skill or ability).
Preferred Qualification:
The ideal candidate should possess one or more of the following:
Experience using Esri’s Roads and Highways software
Experience with maintaining a linear referencing system in a spatial database
Notes:
1. Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
2. Possession of a master’s degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
3. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the state of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
