Nature of Work: The Structures Inspection Logistics and Safety Manager (LSM) is responsible for managing, coordinating, and scheduling the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and access equipment necessary for safely performing structure condition inspection work statewide. This position is critical to meeting the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) requirements with the following key responsibilities: The LSM manages the Statewide Maintenance of Traffic and Access Equipment contract for structure condition inspection. This 2-year, approximately $15M contract, is critical for meeting the NBIS requirements by providing MOT services required to close traffic lanes to inspect bridges safely. Additionally, this contract provides the access equipment (such as under-bridge cranes and bucket trucks) needed to perform hands-on bridge inspections where required. The contract-supplied access equipment supplements SHA-owned equipment.
The LSM coordinates with the district traffic offices to obtain lane closure permits for consultant inspection teams to maintain traffic and provide a safe work zone. The LSM schedules MOT crews and inspection access equipment for both in-house inspection teams and consultants. Both utilize the MOT crews and equipment year around. The LSM is responsible for tracking the safety inspection documentation for both SHA-owned and contract-supplied access equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in professional engineering.
Selective Qualification: One (1) year of experience in bridge inspection or bridge engineering.
