This position, under direction of the Site Development Unit (SDU) Supervisor, will provide SDU staff with delivering projects related to safety rest areas, historic roadside properties, state entry monuments, department building site improvements, transit facilities and other site-related facilities.  You will be responsible for:  providing experienced professional/technical landscape architectural support to Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) SDU; delivering professional expertise in areas of quality assurance and quality control in the review and delivery of MnDOT- and consultant-prepared construction documents; providing consultation on project constructability, sustainability and cost-effectiveness related to the field of Landscape Architecture; managing projects, managing consultants with delivery of MnDOT projects; providing technical site planning, preliminary and detailed site design, and preparation of construction documents; providing experienced landscape architectural construction phase activities; organizing and coordinating work activities related to individual projects.

You’ll also provide budgeting, project scoping and implementation, design development, and preparation of construction documents or the review of consultant-prepared construction plans, specifications, and cost opinion; manage project teams and participate as a member of project design teams including partners outside MnDOT; review and provide comment on department-prepared and consultant-prepared design and construction documents; participate in project site meetings and virtual meetings including the preparation of meeting minutes; complete product research and site investigations; identify, scan, naming, and store key documents, and administer projects within a statewide scope.  This position will have the option to telework.

Applicants must be licensed as a professional Landscape Architect with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design or be able to obtain licensure through commodity.

AND Three (3) years of advanced professional experience as a licensed Landscape Architect doing the following work:

·         Experience managing all phases of landscape architecture design projects, preparing preliminary and final design development documents, preparing construction documents, observing construction for compliance with construction documents, field investigations, scoping, conceptual and detailed site design, contract document preparation, assessing restoration scenarios and construction support

·         Experience with land and topographic surveys sufficient to review the completeness of prepared surveys

·         Experience applying state and federal codes governing landscape architectural design, construction industry standards, and the ability to interpret and apply standards during design, bidding and constructions; accessibility guidelines related to site projects including the ADA, PROWAG, and Minnesota State Building Code

·         Experience writing and reviewing project specifications prepared using Construction Specifications Institute’s (CSI) MasterFormat Specifications

·         Current Class D driver’s license
