Examples of work for this specific vacancy include but are not limited to:
- Operate, repair, and maintain all heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment on state radio communication buildings in order to maintain a climate-controlled environment in regard to temperature, ventilation, and humidity.
- Perform journey-level mechanical and mill wright work to all air handling systems
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of electrical components associated with HVAC equipment such as electrical motors, motor starters, and safety and control switches with low to 24 volts.
- Comply with MPCA and EPA regulations for refrigerant handling and recovery procedures.
- Maintain and repair emergency power generators so that they are available 24/7 when needed. Immediate repairs to essential power systems as required for emergency communication support.
- Maintain tower sites and assist with tower site development, including shelter repairs, pesticide/herbicide application, fencing and grounding repairs.
- Perform as a general building maintenance team member and troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, install and maintain building systems and components.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Two or more years of journey-level refrigeration mechanic experience in the maintenance and repair of major air conditioning and refrigeration systems, e.g., central air conditioning, window air conditioners, HVAC, and commercial refrigeration.
- Universal EPA Certification for Handling of Refrigerants.
- Requires a Class D Driver’s License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver’s license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers if the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
