The bridge rating and inventory engineer manages activities related to the study of overweight permit applications, the load rating of bridges, and the collection and submittal of National Bridge Inventory data. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.
What you’ll do:
- Supervises employees performing bridge load ratings, National Bridge Inventory activities, and overweight vehicle studies.
- Manages bridge load rating projects for state and non-state structures.
- Manages the collection of National Bridge Inventory data on state and non-state structures.
- Manages quality assurance checks on bridge inspection submittals for non-state structures.
- Manages superload overweight permit studies, and provides bridge load capacity information, used to issue overweight permits, to the Motor Carrier Services division.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
- Six years of postgraduate experience in civil engineering with a demonstrated proficiency in structural design and/or load rating. An advanced degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structures may be substituted for a maximum of two years of experience.
Special Working Conditions:
- Job requires occasional, statewide and/or national, overnight travel.
- This title requires advanced accreditation or licensure which is only available to holders of specific postsecondary degrees.
