The Challenge
We are hiring a State Traffic Systems Operations (TSO) Planning Engineer to manage our Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) team.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision of the TSMO team.
  • Oversee contract management.
  • Serve as our TSMO subject matter expert on project funding sources.
  • Develop interdepartmental, interagency, government, community, and resource partnerships to accomplish TSMO strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee and implement special corridor projects focused on TSMO strategies.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of planning maps/tools, the TSMO Budget, and the TSMO Annual Report.
  • Provide oversight and maintain project delivery network documentation.
  • Develop and maintain a performance metric dashboard enabling data driven decisions.

What You Bring

  • Knowledge of contract management, TSMO philosophy and strategies, ITS technologies, and Traffic Incident Management (TIM).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, skills, and knowledge with past supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of data management, performance measures, and the support of data driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of federal/state policies relating to funds administration in a state department of transportation.
  • Experience maintaining effective working relationships with state, federal, regional, and local government officials, leaders, and representatives of private concerns.
  • Ability to safely operate a state vehicle.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and
5+ years experience; and
3+ years supervisory experience; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Management Prefers
Candidates who are licensed professional engineers in North Carolina.

Note
We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
