NOTICE: This is a traveling crew.
Why does the job exist?
This Supervisor position will operate medium to heavy duty equipment in a safe and efficient manner to repair and maintain interstate, roads, roadways, highways, bridges and structures, and erosion repairs throughout District One for the safety of the traveling public.
How does it get done?
By Supervising employees. Responsible for conducting employee evaluations. Operating medium to heavy duty equipment. Utilizing hand and power tools.
Who are the customers?
The traveling public and pedestrians.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
– Experience operating small to large construction equipment to repair/maintain roadways, bridges, guardrail and fences.
– Supervisory experience.
– Respond to emergency call-outs.
– Experience managing budgets and completing various maintenance operations reports.
– Knowledge in NM Department of Transportation (NMDOT) Maintenance Management System (MMS) and NM Department of Transportation (NMDOT) policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and one (1) year of experience maintaining roads and operating medium to heavy-duty equipment to include loader, blade, five and ten yard dump truck, self -propelled broom, roller, and/or mower. This position may require Herbicide, Tanker and/or Hazmat endorsement. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.
Statutory Requirement:
Must possess a New Mexico Drivers License and a New Mexico Class A CDL at time of hire. Post-offer Physical and Pre-Employment Drug Test are required for safety sensitive classifications.

Employment Requirements
Class A Commercial Drivers’ License with appropriate endorsements for specific job assignments at time of interview required.

Work is performed outside in varying weather conditions – hot or cold, wind, rain and snow, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, noxious plants and infected trash; subject to falls and bruises, considerable physical expenditure; irregular hours day or night; to include but not limited to standing for extended time doing traffic control or walking long distances for litter control; subject to call out for weather or accidents and/or emergencies on short notice; work may also be performed in an office setting to include working with computers, faxes, copiers and printers; use of hands to finger, handle or feel while performing various assigned maintenance duties; numerous specific vision abilities to include: close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; climbing, reaching, kneeling, crawling to perform equipment maintenance. Exposure to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals, airborne particles and/or asphalt and petroleum products; exposure to temperatures up to 150 degrees around oil distributor operations; high speed/high volume traffic; load noises. Use of personal vehicle to and from post of duty.
