The Challenge
We are hiring skilled automotive and heavy equipment mechanics to join our Wilson County Equipment Shop team to do semi-skilled and skilled small engine, automotive, and heavy equipment work.
In this role, you will:
- Perform skilled small engine, automotive, and heavy equipment repairs.
- Service, inspect, repair, rebuild, and diagnose mechanical systems for gasoline, diesel, and alternative-powered engines/equipment. Your work will range from routine inspections and service to highly complex mechanical systems analysis using advanced diagnostic instruments and software.
- Conduct parts/systems failure analysis.
- Calibrate, adjust, and operate engine analyzers.
- Routinely determine materials, techniques, and tools to accomplish work assignments that vary in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system and ancillary components/equipment.
- Perform a variety of recurring and non-recurring work, such as electrical, suspension, brake system repairs, and fitting/repairing more complex ancillary and specialized equipment.
- Consult with senior technicians or a supervisor on complex assignments.
What You Bring
- A complete set of mechanic tools.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1+ of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Experience diagnosing electrical systems and proper wiring repair.
- Hydraulic system repair experience, including component replacement and hoses.
- Ability to repair and maintain automotive and heavy equipment.
- Skills to diagnose problems using diagnostic equipment.
- You can prepare paperwork essential to employment and equipment repair.
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to safely operate equipment for testing.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors.
- A commitment to providing safe working environment by leading by example.
- Ability to read/interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals, read schematics, diagrams, and sketches.
- Strength to move relatively heavy objects and perform heavy lifting.
- Safety toe shoes.
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License with “N” endorsement. (If you don’t have this yet, you can still apply and get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire.)
Notes
- You will be required to work during bad weather, such as snow, ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. that can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
- We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and background check with previous employers for the past 3 years about controlled substances and alcohol.
- We may require current EPA certification as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician.
Education & Experience
High School/GED diploma, and
2+ years of relevant experience, or
A combination of education and experience.
