The role:  

Bring your customer service experience to the DMV! In a DMV field office, work with the public and meet the needs of our diverse customers. This will involve collecting fees, reviewing documents and administering tests. Apply today!

This is a temporary position that does not include the typical benefits available for permanent employees. Temporary employees may be eligible for employee health benefits offered through the Public Employees Benefit Board (PEBB) as outlined in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Temporary appointments may be full- or part-time and will not exceed six months or 1040 hours.

A day in the life:

Explain laws, procedures, programs and records to a diverse customer base.
Perform counter work and help people with titling and registering vehicles and getting permits.
Interpret and apply vehicle laws and agency policies.
Inspect documents and applications. Calculate and collect fees.
Produce licenses, permits and identification cards.
Account for documents and money received. Balance receipts at the close of business day.
Prepare daily reports.
Provide relief as needed in other DMV field offices.
Work will require standing for long periods of time and carrying equipment up to 40 pounds.

What we need:

Note: Temporary employees do not need to meet minimum qualifications; this is posted for reference only.

Two years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in-person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying laws, rules, regulations/procedures.

AND

Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data.

Completion of an Associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience.

Special qualifications (required for temporary positions): Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
