The role:

The inspector 3 provides general oversight of highway construction projects.  You will lead and comprehend contract requirements and monitor the project through all phases to ensure contractors adhere to the contract specifications. You will also monitor the project for possible problems and recommend potential solutions. Apply today!

A day in the life:

Ensure construction work is performed in accordance with contract specifications.
Monitor project safety procedures.
Monitor traffic control and ensure public safety and convenience are maximized.
Inspect construction grade, materials and procedures.
Ensure all required tests are performed and documented.
Write reports.
General oversight to ensure contractors and subcontractors meet the requirements of the contract.
Coordinate all phases of work and communicate between Project Manager, contractor and Quality Control Compliance Specialist regarding the project.
Travel to project sites and meetings with contractor, using a state vehicle.

What we need:

Five and one-half years (66 months) of sub-professional engineering experience

An Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology from a recognized community college or technical school of engineering and four years of experience directly related to engineering.


An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
