The role:

Most of this work may be done remotely with required operating systems and technology. There are many times that the work will need to be done at the primary work location, the ODOT Procurement Office located at 3930 Fairview Industrial Pkwy, Salem, OR 97301.

A day in the life:

  • Coordinate contractor selection process.
  • Independently develop, negotiate and execute contracts for goods and services.
  • Modify contract terms and conditions throughout pre-award and post-award phases.
  • Plan pre-bid and pre-proposal conferences and answer questions about the solicitation process.
  • Draft and process contract documents.
  • Input daily updates into contract management system.
  • Help with compliance reviews.
  • Occasional travel is required, along with some evening and weekend work.

What we need:

  • Five years procurement and contract experience related to the position such as developing and administering standard contracts, agreements, or solicitations.


  • A bachelor’s degree and two years of professional-level procurement and contract experience related to the position.


  • Any combination of experience and education equivalent to five years of procurement and contract experience related to the position.

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Experience in administering, developing, evaluating and negotiating public or private service contracts or agreements.
  • Experience in researching, interpreting and applying statutes, rules and policies.
  • Ability to communicate expertly with a variety of audiences.
  • Well-developed organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent writing skills (spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, etc).
  • Analytical and technical writing skills (the ability to research, analyze and synthesize data and information into concise, easily understood written documents).
