A day in the life:

  • Act as lead project inspector on construction projects and enforce compliance to contract requirements.
  • Read and understand contract plans and specifications for highway construction related projects.
  • Oversee and address any routine issues that may occur between the agency and the contractor.
  • Be the primary contact person between ODOT and the contractor’s field representatives.
  • Assist with contract administration specialist responsibilities to ensure documentation quality and quantity compliance.
  • Assist with quality control compliance specialist responsibilities to ensure field tested materials meet contract requirements.
  • Prepare calculations, quantity estimates, plan revisions, and construction details necessary for the preparation of contract change orders and project development.
  • Initiate, negotiate, review, submit and implement contract change orders and extra work orders.
  • Obtain and maintain inspection certifications.
  • Travel occasionally, which may require overnight stays.
  • Work primarily in the office and field with limited hybrid work options.
  • May work with hazardous materials, in adverse weather, on rough terrain and around construction activities and heavy traffic.

What we need:

Completion of and passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam;

OR

A bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation-related engineering.

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
