Join our team as a traffic control designer where you will evaluate and design traffic control features used in the construction of transportation projects. A day in the life:
- Design and prepare multimodal work zone traffic control plans.
- Prepare detailed project level transportation management plans.
- Advise and make recommendations regarding proposed project staging impacts to traffic operations on project sites and adjacent roadways.
- Assess work zone staging plans for vehicular capacity and operational requirements.
- Prepare special provisions specifications and cost estimates for temporary traffic control elements of projects.
- Participate on project teams, representing temporary traffic control features and designs.
- Evaluate highway construction plans for allowable lane closure periods and other restrictions necessary to minimize the impact to highway users.
- Prepare engineering reports and summarize traffic findings.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment and requires occasional travel for field reviews or meetings within the state. Hybrid work options available.

What we need:
Completion of and passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and one year of experience applying professional engineering theory, principles, and methods.
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

- Experience designing traffic control elements of transportation projects.
- Experience analyzing vehicular capacity and operations.
- Educational background with a focus on traffic or transportation engineering.
- Experience working collaboratively on a multidisciplinary project design team.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse teams of people to solve problems.
