The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials is currently hiring a Quality Analyst, a full-time position located in our Frederick, MD office.

Nature of Position:

The Quality Analyst provides support to the AASHTO Accreditation Program (AAP) by acting as a point of contact between the customer laboratories, specifiers, assessment and proficiency sample providers, and the AAP. Duties include reviewing assessment reports; reviewing and monitoring corrective action reports; monitoring proficiency testing results; conducting annual accreditation reviews; and preparing accreditation documentation for review by the AAP Manager. The Quality Analyst also prepares and revises AAP quality system policies, procedures, work instructions, and forms.

The Quality Analyst participates in strategic plan projects relative to the AAP and may be asked to participate in other strategic plan projects outside of the scope of the AAP. The Quality Analyst may also plan and implement AASHTO re:source on-site assessments, surveillance visits, and ISO/IEC 17025 on-site assessments. The Quality Analyst may be asked to complete desktop reviews in which a written report is prepared officially documenting the pre-assessment findings.

The Quality Analyst may travel to industry meetings as a representative of the AAP and may be required to conduct presentations at meetings.  It may also be required that the Quality Analyst independently plan, coordinate, and execute training sessions on AAP services and internal procedures to staff, sponsors, specifiers, or other interested parties.

The Quality Analyst may participate in standards development activities to support the mission of the AASHTO Committee on Materials and Pavements (COMP).  The Quality Analyst may be asked to write newsletter articles explaining accreditation or technical issues.  The Quality Analyst may also be asked to complete tasks delegated from the AAP Manager, AAP Director, or AASHTO re:source Director.

Position Requirements:

The successful candidate will have at least 1 year of quality-related work experience. A bachelor’s degree in science or engineering, or equivalent experience, is required.

The candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills. Preferably, candidates will have prior experience as a quality auditor and/or have understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) construction materials, testing, or contract review.

Perks and Benefits:

This position primarily reports out of our AASHTO re:source office located in Frederick, MD. AASHTO offers employees hybrid work schedules, with remote work up to 3 days/week.

The salary range for this position is $60,000-70,000.
