Develops social media campaigns across a variety of platforms to share information, facilitates conversations, and advances the agency’s strategic goals. Responsible for creating high quality visual and written content. Stay up to date on the latest best practices and technologies. Manages and executes a content calendar in coordination with the team. Establishes relationships with other communications professionals in government and other related organizations to develop a strong network that pushes the agency’s strategic communications initiatives forward and allows for clear, concise information sharing. Ensures that SCDOT’s customer service standards are provided via social media. Monitors comments and direct messages and responds when appropriate. Tracks common themes and shares information based on those trends. In accordance with our policies and with consultation from the legal department, manages platforms to ensure respectful and appropriate engagement. Responds to media inquiries in collaboration with the media relations office. Acts as a spokesperson for the organization when necessary and as directed. Represents the agency in a variety of settings, including events and meetings, conferences, and outreach engagements. Working collaboratively, ensures that other members of the division are informed about upcoming campaigns and strategically leverages digital platforms and channels to create comprehensive communications campaigns. Monitors industry news and stay informed about local, regional and national key topics. Creates posts related to appropriate industry topics to encourage engagement and ensure the agency is participating in local, regional and national conversations. Serves as an advisor for agency personnel on leveraging social media and other digital platforms to meet strategic communications goals and provides timely, accurate information. During emergency activations, responsible for communicating clear, concise safety information and collaborating with other agencies to ensure information is accurate and timely. May be required to serve in the South Carolina Joint Information Center. Monitors campaigns, analyzes trends and provides regular reports on metrics.
