The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation is accepting applications for an exciting full-time (40-hours/week) Transportation Principal Engineer (Engineering) within the Traffic Signals Unit in the Division of Traffic Engineering in our Newington, CT Headquarters building.

The Role:
This position is responsible for overseeing and directing the Traffic Signals Unit in the Division of Traffic Engineering. Oversight responsibilities include programming future traffic signal installations and upgrades, scheduling, assigning and delivery of design plans, specifications and estimates for traffic signals, reviewing traffic signal designs prepared by consultants, managing traffic signal installation projects, establishing traffic signal design practices and updating the Department’s Traffic Signal Design Manual, assisting in the management of over 2,500 state owned traffic signals, and maintaining and updating traffic design specifications. Other responsibilities include establishing and maintaining unit procedures, developing or making recommendations on policies and standards and acting as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials, as well as Consultant Engineers and Contractors that design, construct and conduct studies of complex transportation engineering problems. You will be a key representative of the DOT to the public and other stakeholders.
