The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) is now accepting applications for a Transportation Engineer 3 (Engineering) (Facilities Structural Engineer) role within the Facilities Design Unit located at our headquarters in Newington, CT. This position will support the DOT’s initiatives to develop buildings to support and maintain Connecticut’s transportation network.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
Monday through Friday
Full Time (40 hours per week)
First shift
Location: Newington, CT
Hybrid (office/telework) work schedules may be available
THE ROLE:
This position will be for a Structural Engineer for new or renovation design projects at facilities that support Highway Operations including maintenance and repair facilities, salt sheds, storage tank designs, and other facilities managed by the Department. In this role you will showcase your knowledge of contemporary techniques, concepts and procedures employed in the fields of structural engineering, as applied to the DOT.

The Facilities Design Unit provides in-house and consultant engineering design and technical support services in the areas of Civil, Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. We are looking for energetic and driven team players who are passionate about serving the public and about the work we do within the DOT and Facilities Design unit to deliver our mission.

You will be expected to travel to and attend trainings, conferences, public meetings, field reviews, etc. both within and outside of normal working hours when necessary and possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
