An exciting opportunity is available within the Virginia Department of Transportation – Central Office Location and Design Division to lead Virginia in the advancement of computer aided design systems and 3D modeling as the State Design Technologies Program Manager (previously known as the CADD Support Program Manager).This is a unique opportunity to innovate, lead, and influence the development of all software, systems, and technologies supporting the design of highway construction plans in the Commonwealth. The selected candidate will report to the Assistant State Location and Design Engineer and lead this program that advances the use of 3D design/modeling and digital delivery of highway construction design plans, develops and sustains the CADD Standards for Statewide use, and implements and maintains a document management system (DMS) for all project development design files and documentation. It is also responsible for researching, evaluating, testing, providing training, implementing and sustaining software for use by designers Statewide to successfully deliver highway construction and maintenance plans using electronic media and formats.

Duties include, but are not limited to: providing oversight and management of team functions in the Central Office Location and Design Division; executing all duties and responsibilities of the program manager; establishing program area goals and developing plans of execution with milestones; and developing policies and procedures to support promote work and goal achievement. The selected candidate will also manage staff and human and fiscal resources; provide technical guidance and problem resolution, provide oversight of software implementation and rollouts, and represent the Division and VDOT on internal and external committees, task forces, and at other meetings.
