The Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) is excited to offer and announce a competitive opportunity to serve as a Senior Engineer in our Central Office’s Alternative Project Delivery Division!
The selected candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer that will lead design-build procurements for transportation projects that will include the development of Request for Qualifications (RFQ), Request for Proposals (RFP) and management of the procurement process to ensure the successful award by the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB).
This challenging and rewarding position’s specific responsibilities and duties will include, but are not limited to:
Contract Development – Responsible for developing and awarding design-build contracts. Develop scope, schedule and cost estimate by coordinating with district and division staff. Lead solicitation, procurement and assist with contract negotiations for complex projects. Perform risk assessments and recommend or prioritize projects for the appropriate project delivery methods.
Process Improvements – Develop, recommend and implement process/policy improvements as needed. Assist in monitoring compliance to ensure conformance to the policy, procedures and state and federal procurement laws. Assist in Identifying and recommending projects for alternative project delivery.
Contract Administration Support – Maintain effective communication among team. Provide timely and accurate guidance to other Divisions and Districts regarding contract development in accordance with policies, procedures and procurement laws. Facilitate resolution of issues in a timely manner. Deliver procurements of projects on time by monitoring and making timely changes to the procurement schedule. Provide significant input and assist in developing policies, procedures, practices and guidance for the Alternative Project Delivery program.
