The Opportunity

WSDOT is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer 2 to manage all aspects of contract related submittals and assist the Office Engineer as needed.  This position will be processing, tracking, and monitoring documentation received from project contactors, quality control for the office electronic documentation system, attending and recording project progress meetings and providing backup to the Contracts Payments group.

What to Expect

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Transportation Engineer 2 will:

Manage office documentation.
Perform quality and process control.
Managing all aspects of contract submittals.
Coordinating contract submittals.
Preparing meeting agendas and meeting minutes.
Process contract related documents.
Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:

Certification as an Engineer-In-Training and one (1) year of experience as a Transportation Engineer 1, Transportation Technician 3, Bridge Engineer 1 or equivalent OR
Two (2) years of experience as a Transportation Engineer 1, Transportation Technician 3, Bridge Engineer 1 or equivalent work experience, OR
High School diploma or GED equivalent required along with two (2) years of service as a Transportation Engineer 1 or equivalent experience

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:

Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
Ability to read and understand Contract Plans and Provisions, specifications, drawings, technical notes, letters and instructions.
Understanding and knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Disadvantage Business Enterprise (DBE), and Apprenticeship Program.
Experience in specialized databases such as the Primavera Unifier, Contract Manager, Force Account program, mainframe access software, mainframe applications such as CAPS and CCIS.

The salary listed includes the legislative approved 5% salary premium for positions in King County. An additional general wage increase of 3.25% will be applied for all state employees on July 1, 2022.
