Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking multiple Transportation Engineer 3’s to serve as the Lead Inspectors in Seattle, WA. The Lead Inspector for the SR 520 Montlake to Lake Washington I/C and Bridge Replacement project supervises a variety of State Quality Verification inspection and project oversite duties within the Quality Organization of the WSDOT SR 520 Corridor Design-Build office.  The Lead Inspector will be responsible for overseeing specialized aspects of construction, which may include utilities, electrical systems, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), mechanical installations, traffic control implementation, interagency coordination, and construction permit compliance. This role is critical to ensuring that the Design-Builder implements a robust Quality Management program, and that all construction work meets or exceeds contract requirements.  The Lead Inspector is WSDOT first line representation with the Design Builder. The Lead Inspector is required to have good working knowledge and understanding of the project during day-to-day operations and be able to communicate with the Design Builder and project partners to identify/resolve construction concerns. This position acts as WSDOT’s representative to communicate with Design-Builders Quality control and Quality Assurance staff.
