Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Principal Community Transportation Planner in Spokane, WA. Housed in Eastern Region’s planning office and reporting directly to the Eastern Region Planning and Strategic Partnerships Director (WMS3), the TPS 5 serves as consulting expert and functional organization leader. The TPS 5’s unit is charged with working across disciplines to develop and implement a program of collaborative and coordinated community engagement and environmental justice strategies throughout the entire project development process. The unit is charged with leading implementation of a new program directed by the Legislature; designing inclusive community engagement strategies for capital delivery, including a mega-project; and contributing subject matter expertise to statewide policy and process development as part of agency-wide teams. The position and staff promote a total system approach, connecting local and state transportation services for integration of land use and multimodal transportation (public transportation, active transportation, freight, and private vehicles)
